If you take your online business seriously, you will definitely need to consider your online authority. Why? Because, you want your articles to be defined as trustworthy and dependable. To do that, you need to be an expert in your field, as well as blogging.
Therefore, the first advice we have is:
#1 Discover your specialty and work on it
While building authority, the word “specialty” or “expertise”, if you will, should be your primary thought.
Whatever you do, you will, most probably, have competition, so your goal is to be better. How to do that? Discover what you’re good at and develop that. It can be anything as long as it has value for your followers.
After discovering your specialty, develop it and work hard in order to make progress. Prepare to dedicate a lot of hours to writing, and to devote time to reading on your own subjects of expertise. It could be a long road ahead of you.
#2 Define your goals
First you will need to define your goals. You need to ask yourself what you want to achieve by writing a blog, articles, or posts? Your goals need to be SMART, and some of those could be, for example, the number of subscribed people, the number of views, the number of shares on social networks, and even the number of articles published in a defined period of time. Either way, it’s best that you have a couple of goals, not just one.
One of the rules of SMART goals is that you need to decide on your KPIs (key performance indicators). How are you going to evaluate the success of your activities in relation to your goals? You need to pick the factors and measurable points that are most valuable to your business and to your goals. You then decide on how you are going to measure your success., which values are going to be considered a success, and which ones a failure. This stage is incredibly important, if you really want to be in control be in control of your activities and results.
#3 Come up with your strategy
After you’ve set your goals, you need to come up with a strategy, which, if followed, is going to help you achieve these goals. This can include, when you’ll post your blogs, and how often you will do that, what you’ll write (your topics), and which networks you’re going to use to approach your desired group.
Each one of these should be well thought through, because they all make a difference.
#4 Earn trust
After you’ve created quality and unique content, you should earn trust from your customers and other colleagues. Be friendly in every aspect of your business, in and out of blogging and people will recognize it. Communicate, answer the questions, participate in conversations and share content valuable to your targeted group (doesn’t have to be yours). If you put your users’ well-being first, and really try to help them and to offer them what they need in regards to your niche, you will earn their trust.
This could be hard work, and you may sometimes not feel like interacting or helping out. But, guess what, this pays out big time in the long run. The word will spread at one point, and you will build a reputation much quicker.
#5 Always offer quality content
Everything is equally important, but having quality content all the time is a “must have”. Every part of your business should represent professionalism, uniqueness and knowledge in a certain field. Define what your customers need and offer it to them, in the best possible way that you can. Do research, and bring freshness and your own thoughts into the subject.
